One More Day
And then I am gone for ten.
::cue fanfare and ticker tape::
I love road trips. Even if it is a short one to get out to see B and Spacie. It is going to be nice to away for a bit to clear my head and to hang out with other artists. The thing about artists, I have found, is that to actually create, we have to kind of be…well, antisocial. And, for me, I generally need music. I can do the inks and drawings while watching t.v., but, to paint, I tend to go off in my head, into my own little world, and paint. Music helps. People who do something else and talk to me occasionally while I work, or who do their own thing until the next drying stage (because, with watercolor, there are drying stages between layers unless you are working totally wet into wet) and then hang out are great. People who need to be entertained or who keep talking after the headphones go on and then get their feelings hurt when I don’t hear them (had a room mate in college like this) are harder to deal with because they ARE your friends and you don’t want to hurt their feelings, but, at the same time, you really want them to go away and let you work. Because of this, it is nice to get away and hang out with other artists who get this. (Musicians and writers are also good at getting this, which might explain one of the reasons my very best friends always tend to be artists, writers, or musicians, or, strangely enough, even though it makes perfect sense, computer programmers.)
BJ and Spacie are both artists and writers and, well, creative types who are totally comfortable with turning on music or something random on t.v. that doesn’t take a whole lot of concentration to tune out (cartoons are great for this). They are also totally up for MST-ing movies, going for walks, getting pizza, or playing video games. In short, they are super laid back and go with the flow and it is really nice to be around people like that, ESPECIALLY when you’re on vacation. I love it when they visit, and I love to go visit them (yes, I know, this is only my second time, but the first time was nice, and I am looking forward to Thursday).
I will be leaving at the crack of dawn on Thursday to avoid morning rush hour through Dallas, and then I will cruise on up at a much slower pace than last time (as B has to work and I don’t want to make Spacie get up any earlier than she has to since, like me, she finds sleep a good thing. Lady after my own heart.
). And, besides that, the drive is actually very pretty once you get out of town a little ways. Lots of trees and big bunches of nothing but nature. My type of drive.
AND, maybe, (and B doesn’t know this yet, so, if you read this before I get a chance to call you, B, SURPRISE!) I might drive on up to the coast while I am out that way for a day of sketching. I know they are close, but I don’t remember how close, so that might not be feasible, but they will both be working some while I am there, and I thought it might be a good away from the house thing for me to do while they are gone. Or, since I am going to be there on weekends, maybe a Saturday thing, again, IF it is feasible. I really wish I could remember how many hours he told me the drive was. Oh, well, if it isn’t, there is a trail out by his house that I can walk down and that will be just as relaxing. It is surrounded by trees.
Squee! I am super excited! Hopefully, what with visiting and packing, and watering plants, tomorrow will go by super fast.

Awesome. A real vacation! Enjoy, have fun and relax–you deserve it!
::hugs::
3 and a half hour drive at a lazy pace. We are about 80 miles from the Gulf, give or take what part you want to go to. If we go it will definitly have to be a weekend thing so we take our time.
Totally excited to have you visit
Thanks, Anna!
I am totally excited to be coming, B!! I definitely want to hit the coast, then, if you guys are up for it. But, like I said, if not, I am happy with walkings and seeings of the trees.
Have a wonderful time, Audie. Seriously, if anyone deserves a vacation, it’s you
Thank you, thank you. So far, it’s been great and looks like nothing but good to come.
