Presidential Inauguration 2009

New president.  Now, see, this is what I don’t get.  Everyone keeps saying that we are “making history”.

News flash, EVERY SINGLE TIME we get a new president, it MAKES HISTORY.

Granted, some are more spectacular than others, but still.  A new phrase is needed I feel.

That said, I really enjoyed watching the inauguration.  I liked seeing ALL of the people who had come out to see Obama sworn in, and I loved that Aretha Franklin sang.  And I LOVED her hat.  That was some hat.  I watched it in a class I was subbing for.  I thought his speech was quite nice, and it was actually a joy to hear the President speak without feeling like I needed to slap my forehead because he had just said something stupid.

Now to wait and see if anything Obama said in his speech happens.

  1. LOL; I watched it at work (we were told we can do it from the breakroom, to avoid clogging down the network by streaming git at our desktops, which was very nice)… and we totally loved Ms. Franklin’s hat. Goodness, it was soo pretty, and it matched her outfit so well. One of the ladies said it looked just like some of the hats some ladies in her mom’s church were wearing on Sundays.
(Yes, I am hat-positive, too.) And everyone was dressed so nicely, it was so good to see tasteful and classy outfits, really.

  2. This is true. I didn’t like everyones outfits, and, honestly, I am not sure I liked the design of Mrs. Obama’s outfit, but I LOVE all the bright colors she wears. :)
