I Am A Paper Whore
I LOVE paper. In fact, I have been known to comment on the quality of the paper used in movies (i.e. in the Lord of the Rings, when Gandalf burns that envelope holding the ring, everyone else went, “ooh, ring” and I said “THAT was NICE paper! Do you know how much that paper probably cost?” Yes, I got the “Okay you freak” look from people dressed as HOBBITS.)
I love textured paper, I love to go to paper stores and touch paper, and I am VERY PICKY about the papers I buy. I love to experiment, and I love to find good deals on good papers, but I want to experiment on NICE papers, with nice textures that are kind of hard to work with.
This wasn’t hard to do when I was living on campus in Denton and had two art stores that specialized in supplying the Art Majors with “WEIRD SHIT”. I had lots of really nice, pretty inexpensive papers right at hand.
Now that I have graduated and moved out of Denton, I find trying to locate nice paper is pretty hard to do. And it is a source of sadness for me.
So, I have gone online to look.
There is a store that has handmade papers that is lovely if you know what you are looking for and they are pretty well priced. They do specialize in scrapbooking papers though, so you have to kinda know what you are looking for, or at least be willing to deal with ordering something that wasn’t exactly what you wanted until you figure out what types of papers go with what names. I’ve talked to the people who run the store though, and they are super friendly and customer oriented, so they were very helpful when I got in the wrong shipment.
Cheap Joe’s Art Supplies is also very nice. They have watercolor paper, drawing paper, printing paper, and canvases, as well as other art supplies that are all extremely reasonable price-wise. I love this store, especially their signature line of watercolors, called American Journey. They are FANTASTIC. This is also the only store that I have found that you can get big rolls of watercolor paper for about 100 bucks. Everywhere else is more expensive.
There is also Twinrocker Handmade Papers that I have just recently discovered. It looks pretty good, but I haven’t ordered from them yet, so I will and let you know.

Yeah I remember that stretched circle you made, was as tight as a drum and even Rob was impressed stretching something circular.
btw, I hate to ask here but have gotten any of my e-mails?
I didn’t make the circular stretcher, and serriously?? You hate to ask here? You are serriously going to try to call me out on MY blog?
For your information, I have responded to your emails, if you aren’t getting them, then I can’t help that. Secondly, no, I haven’t responded to all your emails because you have gone crazy with them. YOU decided to turn a no big deal, I haven’t seen my friend in a long time hanging out going to dinner thing into a date, you decided to INFORM me that you were my soul mate, and you are the one who won’t stop calling me two and three and four and five and six times a day. YOU ARE ENGAGED. I tried to gently remind you of that, I told you that we were cool and that I wasn’t mad and things were business as usual. I am sorry that you didn’t get my responses and I will email them again, but I did respond. Do not come here and call me out.
